day it’s the Wine Boxing Day, like rugby, basketball and football, wine have
this annual contest and comparison between wines and for the match of the day
we will face two competitors in the range of sweet wine :
Sauternes Vs Loupiac
Loupiac
A mix of
simplicity and elegance, perfect for a Christmas table. The name of the Château
is as well representative to the appellation.
Sauternes
Chateau de
Fargues have a nice classic label for a cru classé de Sauternes. Gold , crown
and this dark blue label can remind to Chateau Yquem which has an historical relation with Lur Saluces
Round
2 : The nose & the taste
Loupiac
First a
little expressive nose, following by sweet notes unpretentious and always
discreet. Very light in sugar !
Well balanced
with a touch of acidity which is perfect before the hostilities of the
Christmas meal.
Sauternes
A nose of
honey, hazelnut and pastry cream : superb !
Mineral,
pure, fine and elegant this wine have a nice texture. A beautiful wine not much
thing to say and to compare with the Loupiac

3 : The price
Loupiac
Not
expensive for sweet wine : 8.50€ . Really Good investment for Chrismas and
get this pairing done with his friend Foie Gras !!!
Sauternes
The
Sauternes is in general one of the most expensive sweet wine in the Bordeaux
region, in this battle Chateau de Fargues is not so affordable , 40€ for a half
bottle which is sufficient if you have less than 6 person in your team.
