This week we’re going in holidays : sun, tapas, vinos y
Espana, we are in Spain this week for an awesome fight between two wines from
the Ribeira del Duero region.
Two big actors in this region which are Pintia « Vega
Sicilia » from the Alvarez family well known in the fine wine industry in
Spain and on their own terroirs in San Roman de Hornija.
The second is a direct
competitor and a medium bodega Arzuaga Navarro, the first wine in 2008 and the
second in 2009 which are two realy good
vintages in Spain.
We have already talk
to much in Spanish , let’s have a glass
POR FAVOR !!!
Round 1 : The nose
Pintia « Vega Sicilia » 2008
Nice nose with a small evolution of the wine, elegant nose
of cherry jam and black pepper. The Nose shows a fresh wine far away from what
we can expect for a Spanish Gringo !
Arzuaga Tinto Reserva 2009
First we can only smell young oaky notes and red fruits.
It’s hot and we can feel a lot of alcohol, but after few minutes you forget the
wine and it became more balanced. When you heard about 24 month in french oak
barrel you Can’t wait to taste !?
Round 2 : Let’s taste
Pintia « Vega Sicilia » 2008
Tasty and fresh, fine and elegant , with a nice balance
ollééééééé this is a perfect wine
Arzuaga Tinto Reserva 2009
A lot of Vanilla and red fruits is it a smoothie ? Nice
structure with strong tannins this wine is too powerful for this game maybe for
some palates.
Round 3 : The Price
Pintia « Vega Sicilia » 2008
It will be around 50 Euros for this big label of the Ribeira
del Duero region, « Vega Sicilia » it’s a wine that you need to taste
Arzuaga Tinto Reserva 2009
30 Euros for the challenger , that could be a good deal what
do you think ?
